Screenwriter and director Aina Järvine was born on 20 March 1973 in Tallinn, Estonia. She attended Tallinn Secondary School No. 17 (1980–1982), Tallinn Secondary School No. 55 (1982–1988), and Westholm Gymnasium (1988–1991).
She continued her education in the United Kingdom, studying at Melton Mowbray College of Further Education(1992–1994), where she completed A-levels in Theatre Studies, Dance, and English Language & Literature, as well as a GCSE in English Language. She then studied Performing Arts at De Montfort University in Leicester (1994–1995), earning a Diploma of Higher Education / BA (Hons). In 1999–2000, she continued her studies at the European Film College in Denmark.
