Startup entrepreneur and founder of the international mobile payments service Fortumo, Rain Rannu (b. 1980), has alongside his main work also tried his hand in the film industry. His interest lies at the intersection and points of contact between film and technology. In 2016, he made the feature film “Chasing Ponies” using guerrilla filmmaking methods; in 2018, Estonia’s first virtual reality short film, “Beqaa VR;” and in 2019, the feature film “Chasing Unicorns,” set in the startup world. Together with Tõnu Hiielaid, he founded the production company Tallifornia in 2018. In 2021, he launched Estonia’s first privately funded film fund, Tallifornia Film Fund.
